With the current economic climate affecting the housing market, it may be a good idea to put off that mortgage loan for a bit, but that doesn’t mean all hope is lost.
It isn’t the best time to buy, so why not opt to rent? The rental apartment or house can give you the same comforts of home, with no mortgage to worry about. The additional money that would have been invested can go into savings instead. My fiancée and I recently came free of our debts. Without a new loan to reinvest in, we now have new options available to us.
MAKE A HOME NOT A MESS
Renting rather than purchasing a house has you paying out a rent rather than a mortgage. The uncertainty of how long you’re going to stay in an apartment often has people at odds with settling in and making themselves at home.
Since people tend to like the idea of never having to move again, there are some key tips to make rental living less of a hassle in the inevitable move. It’s important you organize your things beforehand. Make sure everything is packed and labeled, this will make unpacking a smoother transition. Moving doesn’t have to be a painful process, but you should always think ahead to make things easier on yourself.
In your 20’s, being downtown and close to the action was probably your reason for choosing an apartment. Knowing you probably would not stay there forever you likely did not put in much effort. Once you reach your 30’s though, you start looking for something a little more permanent. There is no reason that you have to be tied down though. Rental can be the option for you, waiting out a housing market that will bounce back. Rent your dream home and see what it’s like before you make that final plunge with your Realtor.
